
Severs tied for lead, Gators jump seven spots and nine back for final round

In his collegiate debut, freshman Parker Severs (E) is tied for the individual behind a round two of 68 (-4) as Florida is in 5th.
HARTFORD, Wis. - Florida men's golf freshman Parker Severs is tied for the individual lead as the Gators climbed seven spots in round two and are nine shots back of the lead for the final round of the Marquette Intercollegiate.
The Gators made a 30 shot improvement from its opening round and owned the low round of the day with a 287 (-1) to sit in 5th through 36-holes. UF enters nine strokes back of leader Clemson and will tee off the final round tomorrow at 10:50 a.m.
In his collegiate debut, Severs carded the low round of the tournament with a 68 (-4) to sit even overall and tied with Rich Wills of Clemson. Severs began his round with back-to-back birdies for a 3-under bogey-free back nine. He reached 6-under and bogey-free through 16 holes at one point. The Lakewood Ranch, Fla. native looks to become first Gator freshman to win an event since Ricky Castillo in 2020, who won twice.
Both Parker Bell and Jack Turner logged under par rounds. Bell had a bogey-free 69 (-3) to move up 27 spots into T10 while Turner had a 70 (-2) to jump 12 spots at T5. Turner had his team-best fourth even or under par round.
Newcomers Trevor Gutschewski and Noah Kent each had an eagle at Erin Hills Golf Club as they are two of eight total players to record one. Kent's came on the par5 14th of 613 yards and Gutschewski on the par5 1st of 552 yards. The two each shot a round of 74 (+2) as Kent is tied for 16th and Gutschewski T28.
Rounding out the lineup features Matthew Kress (T53), who finished nine shots better than round one and Luke Poulter (T68)
