GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Head Women's Tennis Coach Per Nilsson announced today that Rebecca Mortensen has officially signed with the Gators, and will make her way to campus for the spring semester, 2027.
"We look for players that are hungry to compete at the highest level, and who want to work and train with us to get there," said Nilsson. "Rebecca fits that, and we are excited to help her reach her goals."
Mortensen is a native of Copenhagen, Denmark, and has been ranked by the WTA as high as No. 567 in the world in singles, and No. 481 in doubles. Her universal tennis rating (UTR) is currently 11.05, and has been as high as 11.25 in her career.
The winner of eight pro titles, Mortensen is also the reigning Danish national champion in both singles and doubles. She represented Denmark in the Billie Jean King Cup, often referred to as the "World Cup of tennis," where she upended a pair of players with career-high WTA rankings in the top 200 — Cadence Brace (No. 184) and Victoria Rodriguez (No. 113).
Mortensen just recently defeated the No. 172 player in the WTA for her highest career win to date. A top-20 ITA junior, Mortensen competed in all of the junior Grand Slams advancing to the second round at the US Open, the third round at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and the quarterfinals at the French Open.
