EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. – The No. 6 Florida men's golf team went wire-to-wire to win the Hamptons Intercollegiate by 15-shots on Tuesday at the Maidstone Club for the team's first victory of the season.
Florida's victory marked the 39th all-time under head coach J.C. Deacon. He is now three wins back of Buster Bishop, who led UF to program to two National Championships (1968 & 1973), which marked the athletic departments first two titles of any sport.
All seven Gators competing this week finished in the top-22, led by Jack Turner's solo 3rd at 4-under. He carded his second team-best finish this season, adding to his solo 7th in the season opener. Turner shot his final two rounds under par of 68 (-4) and 71 (-1).
A stroke behind him was sophomore Trevor Gutschewski (-3) in T4, marking a career-best finish. He logged all three rounds of even par (69-72-72) to total five in his last six rounds.
