The Gators carded the low round of the day led by Jack Turner's 66 (-5) and Luke Poulter's 67 (-4).
PAUMA VALLEY, Calif. - Powered by the day's low round (10-under 274), No. 3 Florida climbed into contention and now lurks two shots back of the lead at the Pauma Valley Invitational on Tuesday.
Florida's team round today sent them six spots up the leaderboard into third place, just behind No. 20 Georgia Tech (-10) and No. 15 Tennessee (-11). The Gators, Yellow Jackets and Vols tee off tomorrow's final round at 12:31 p.m. UF looks to capture the fifth team title this season, which would mark four consecutive seasons of five-plus single-season victories for the first time in program history.
All five counting scores were at par or better led by Jack Turner's 66 (-5). He made the turn with a bogey-free with a 5-under back nine, which included three straight birdies between holes No. 13-15. The low round was his team-best 12th this season as the junior is tied for 9th.
Right behind Turner was Luke Poulter with a bogey-free 67 (-4) for back-to-back under par rounds after missing the last two tournaments. He is 5-under after two rounds and is three shots back of solo lead. Also, eight of his last nine rounds are par or better.
The final two Gators contributing this round featured Josh Bai with a 1-under 70 and Zack Swanwick's even-par 71. In Bai's second set of 18-holes, Bai made four birdies, 13 pars and a double-bogey while across his last seven rounds, five are for par or better.
