Ashton Wilson led the Gators with 45.5 community service hours this year while earning his undergraduate degree.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Southeastern Conference unveiled its 2026 Baseball Community Service Team on Wednesday, with senior outfielder Ashton Wilson representing the Florida Gators thanks to his outstanding contributions to the local Gainesville community.
In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 22 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
As a key team leader and member of the Gators clubhouse, Wilson led the squad with 45.5 community service hours during the 2025-26 academic year. The bulk of his outreach came with the GreenHouse Church Kids program, which is a ministry serving children from infancy through fifth grade with the aim to provide safe, engaging and age-appropriate environments for spiritual growth.
While regularly volunteering at GreenHouse Church, Wilson also contributed a multitude of hours to the Gators Experience. On one such occasion on Feb. 4, Wilson and other student-athletes delivered flowers across campus to celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
Wilson was also a contributing member to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) while simultaneously working toward the completion of his undergraduate degree. This past spring, Wilson graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in psychology.
On the field, Wilson has played in 75 games while making 50 starts for the Orange & Blue across the past three seasons (2024-26). He owns a .374 career on-base percentage as a Gator, totaling five home runs, 13 doubles, 43 runs, 37 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Best remembered for his heroics in leading the Gators to the 2024 College World Series, Wilson was named the Stillwater Regional MVP en route to hitting .270/.405/.471 on the season.
Wilson and the Gators wrap up the regular season at LSU this Thursday-Saturday with a three-game series in Baton Rouge from May 14-16. Thursday night's series opener is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.
