Pair of Gators competing at FIBA Women’s AmeriCup Centrobasket Qualifier

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators guard Kiyomi McMiller and forward Aurora Almón are off to Managua, Nicaragua this week where they will take part in the FIBA Women's AmeriCup Centrobasket Qualifier. McMiller is a member of the Nicaraguan Senior National Team, while Almón is playing for the Dominican Republic.
The Qualifier runs from July 12-18, and features the top eight teams from Central America and the Caribbean vying for a place in the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027. Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic are in Group A as are Mexico and the Bahamas. Group B consists of Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Guyana and the Virgin Islands.
Almón and the Dominican Republic begin Group Phase play vs. The Bahamas on Sunday, July 12 at 6 p.m. ET, while McMiller and Nicaragua tip off that same evening against Mexico at 8:30 p.m.
All games will be streamed live on FIBA's official YouTube channel and can be accessed through each game page on the tournament's official website. Fans can also follow all the action and highlights on the official FIBA Women's AmeriCup social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram and X.

- The last place teams from each group will play for fifth to eighth place
- The second place teams will face the third place teams from the opposite group (2B vs. 3A, and 2A vs. 3B).
- The winners will advance to the semifinals to face the group leaders, while the losers will join the last place teams for positions five through eight
