Poulter earns second Walker Cup selection

The 2026 Walker Cup is scheduled for Sept. 5-6 at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida men's golf senior Luke Poulter earned his second Walker Cup selection for Team GB&I on Tuesday, the R&A announced. He earned his selection by ranking among the top five GB&I players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) as of Aug. 5.
The 51st Walker Cup is scheduled for Sept. 5-6 at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland. Established in 1922, the biennial tournament will be held in consecutive years for the first time in more than a century as the event transitions from odd-numbered years back to even-numbered years. The format is a 10-man amateur team competition played over two days with 18 singles matches and eight foursomes (alternate-shot) matches.
Entering his senior season, Poulter is coming off a strong junior campaign. The No. 6-ranked amateur in the world, Poulter earned All-America honors from the GCAA and Golfweek while also being named a Academic All-American. He was also tabbed All-Region and All-SEC Second Team.
Poulter earned his second collegiate victory at the Columbus Regional and finished second on the team with a 71.2 stroke average. Outside of a T39 and T55, he finished T16 or better in each tournament and posted a score of par or better in eight of his 10 tournaments played. At the NCAA Championship, he carded under-par rounds of 68 (-4) and 71 (-1) to help Florida advance to match play.
This summer, Poulter played in his second Arnold Palmer Cup, helping Team International win the competition for the second consecutive year. He also received an exemption into the PGA TOUR's 2027 Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 18-21), where he will make his PGA TOUR debut.
Since 1922, top male amateurs representing the United States of America and Great Britain and Ireland have played in this biennial match play competition.It was started in the years following World War I with the aim of promoting the game of golf on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean and continues as a tradition celebrating friendly competition and sportsmanship between the United States Golf Association (USGA) and The R&A.
