Men's Swimming & Diving Secure Win in Season Opener Against Florida Atlantic

Boca Raton, Fla. – Florida men's swimming & diving kicked off their 2026-27 season with a victory over Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Coral Springs Aquatic Complex. The No. 2 Gators topped the Owls 232-63.

The men posted 14 wins in all 14 scored swimming events, with sophomore Nil Cadevall finishing first in three events, while sophomore Ahmed Jaouadi and junior Devin Dilger finished first in two. Additionally, 13 Gators grabbed the second-place spot in the 14 men's swimming events.

Overall, 4 swimmers made their Gator debut, freshman Tai Pearson posted his first collegiate win in the 100 butterfly (47.67) and freshman Zoltan Bagi earned three second-place finishes in the 100 butterfly (48.58), 200 medley relay (1:27.60) and 400 free relay (3:00.37)

Nil Cadevall, Ahmed Jaouadi, Devin Dilger and Matthew Cairns led the way individually. Nil Cadevall recorded a team-high 27 individual points, finishing first in the 100 breast (53.39), 200 breast (1:58.06) and 200 IM (1:49.66). Jaouadi, who was only the second Gator to win the NCAA mile at the 2026 NCAA Championships, placed first in both the 200 and 1,000 freestyle events, touching the wall in 1:37.42 and 8:57.88, respectively and tallied 18 individual points. Dilger finished first in the 50 (19.36) and 100 free (43.82), collecting 18 individual points. Matthew Cairns recorded three top-three finishes against the Owls, placing first in the 200 butterfly and adding 15 individual points to the Gators total.

Diving
Florida finished on top in all four diving events, with senior Camyla Monroy leading the way in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, scoring 316.58 and 320.70.

Jesus Agundez Mora and Jesus Gonzalez finished first in the 1-meter and 3-meter events, respectively while senior Conor Gesing finished second in the 3-meter and third in the 1-meter. Miguel Tovar and Juliana Giron both made their collegiate debut, Tovar placing second in the 1-meter and Giron second and third in the 1 and 3-meter events. Sophomore Alexa Fung had a 2-3 finish in both events.

Up Next
The Gators travel to Kentucky for a dual meet against the Wildcats on Oct. 2. Swimming events are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET at the Lancaster Aquatic Center.
