National Championship Teams
UF became the first program in collegiate history to own both the men's basketball and football national titles in the same calendar year, after capturing crowns in 2006. The men's basketball team then became the first repeat champions in their sport in 15 years after cutting the nets down again in 2007. When Florida won the 2017 NCAA baseball title, it became the sixth Division I program to win a national title in baseball, men's basketball and football. UF is the only one of the six to win a title in each since 1996.
Florida has won 28 national team titles since the 2008-09 season. UF and Stanford are the only programs to claim at least one national title in each complete season since 2008-09. Sixteen different Gator teams have claimed national titles - that array is the fourth highest in the nation and is the highest among any team east of the Mississippi River.

Ben Hill Griffin Award Winners
Gator Gold
Few schools in the country can match the rich Olympic tradition the University of Florida boasts. Since 1972, 239 Gators have represented 52 countries in 20 Olympiads. Former and current Gator athletes have laid claim to 156 medals, including 74 golds. An all-time high 39 current and former UF athletes represented 20 countries in the 2024 Paris Olympics and took home 11 medals, including four gold. If the Gator Nation was recognized by the International Olympic Committee, it would tied for 16th for total medals earned in the 2024 Games.
Otis Hawkins Center
Recognizing that student-athletes face unique pressures, the University of Florida Athletic Department instituted the Office of Student Life in 1979. Now the Otis Hawkins Center, the award-winning program of personalized, professional guidance in numerous areas on a day-to-day basis has become a leader in student-athlete services, while also demonstrating UF's commitment to the "total development" philosophy for UF student-athletes.
The Hawkins Center staff responsibilities include: orientation to college life, academic advisement, tutorial services, personal counseling and referral, study skills, career exploration and development, personal development, life management skills, community service and leadership training.
The University of Florida Athletic Association has a comprehensive substance abuse program and gambling awareness education program for all student athletes. In October 1998, the Office of Student Life was one of eight Division I programs to win the Program of Excellence for Life Skills Award, honoring excellence in academics and life skills program.
The state-of-the-art Hawkins Center opened in June of 2016. The $25 million, 82,613-square foot Hawkins Center at Farrior Hall is the latest commitment by UF and the University Athletic Association to the success of the athletic program in the classroom.
The facility includes 74 study rooms/tutoring labs equipped with the latest digital media resources, a 125-seat auditorium, an 800-square foot fueling station, and in essence is the campus hub for student-athlete tutoring, academic advising, studying, job placement and other services.
Goodwill Gators
University of Florida student-athletes, coaches and administrators have become a fixture in the Gainesville community and beyond, donating their time and effort to a number of community-related endeavors. The "Goodwill Gators" program was recognized by the National Consortium of Academics and Sports and received the 1998 Outreach and Service Award. Florida student athletes remained involved in the community and beyond. A total of 466 UF student athletes participated in 3,144 hours of community service in 2023-24.
Professional Sports Counseling Panel
Formed in 1985, the University of Florida Professional Sports Counseling Panel assists Gator student-athletes in evaluating individual professional potential, provides assistance in selecting professional representation and prepares student-athletes for a professional career in sports. The panel, which is authorized by the NCAA, is comprised of three president-appointed members. Florida's panel has been selected as a model panel for other universities to follow.
Gender Equity
Florida is allowing the full roster size limit of 223 for the 11 women's sports offered for the 2025-26 season.
Florida has claimed a total of 20 NCAA women's team titles and leads the league with 143 Southeastern Conference crowns.
Support Services
In addition to first-class facilities, priority and commitment are given to Gator student-athletes by a renowned training, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning staff that has become a standard to which other schools are comparing their program. Every aspect of modern mass communications is also present at the University of Florida, bringing optimal recognition to its programs, coaches and student-athletes.
National All-Sport Finishes
The Florida athletic program has ranked among the nation's top 10 in the last 41 national all-sports rankings (1983-84 - 2024-25) and among the top five for 25 of the last 33 years, according to national all-sport rankings. Florida posted its highest finish of runner-up in three consecutive seasons (2011-12 - 2013-14). Florida was the first school to win the Capital One Cup in both the men's and the women's competition since the Cup was introduced in the 2010-11 season. The Gator men's program three Capital One Cups (2010-11, 2011-12, 2022-23) shares the lead with Stanford and the women captured the 2014 Cup.
It's Academic
Gators all-time have landed 173 times on College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America teams – which stands No. 11 among Division I programs. In the last five seasons, Gators have claimed 21 Academic All-America honors. Seven Gators have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-American Hall of Fame, the second best total in the nation, while Gator student-athletes have earned NCAA post-graduate scholarships 63 times. UF is the only SEC school to place 100 or more student-athletes on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll each of the last 28 years. In 2024-25, UF student-athletes appeared 408 times on either the SEC Academic or First-Year Academic Honor Rolls.
NCAA Certification and Compliance
The University of Florida is a national leader in the area of athletic compliance and institutional control by developing one of the most comprehensive compliance programs involving coaches, student-athletes, athletic administration, university administration, alumni, boosters and fans. The University of Florida has completed a campus-wide effort to study its athletics program as part of the NCAA Division I athletics certification program. The program, the first to focus solely on certification of athletics programs, addressed academic and financial integrity, rules compliance, as well as a commitment to equity.
Facilities
Gator athletic facilities continue to grow, expand or renovate. In September of 2016, the University Athletic Association Board of Directors approved $100 million of facility upgrades. Those upgrades include a new stand-along football complex, along with major renovations to the baseball and softball stadiums.
Since 2016, Florida facility construction or upgrades include construction of the $17.5 million indoor football facility, a $25 million addition to the academic center, renovations to Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium, construction of Florida Ballpark which opened to the public for the 2021 season and partnering with UF for a $64.5 million down-to-the-studs renovation of the O'Connell Center. The James W. "Bill" Heavener Training Center, a standalone football facility, opened in August of 2022.
Gator Boosters, Inc.
More than 12,000 boosters raise more than $45 million annually to support athletic scholarships and capital improvements. There are over 700 Bull Gators, individuals who contribute $16,000 or more annually. Gator Boosters Inc. is chaired by the University of Florida President and served by a 80-member volunteer Board of Directors.
