Sports Analytics and Performance Immersive Experience

Description

The University Athletic Association, Inc (UAA) is searching for reliable, professional, hardworking, and ambitious APK and HEB students interested in enhancing their experience in human performance. You will be immersed into the professions of Strength and Conditioning, Athletic Training, and Sports Dietetics. During this time, you will be exposed to a variety of UF sports teams that represent one of the top athletics programs in the country. Excelling as a sports health performance immersive student will provide a firm foundation for a holistic approach within a sports performance model. Creating future career opportunities in human performance and optimization.
 
Unpaid Undergraduate Interns are expected to complete a minimum of 20-40 hrs./week, or 520 total semester hours (dependent on College requirement). Schedule and hours will be determined depending on Sport Assignment. Students are expected to be on time for all immersive experiences. 
 
Each student will be immersed into a core curriculum reviewing the following topics
  • Athlete Monitoring: Catapult: Device Implementation
  • Biomechanical Analysis: Dari Motion Operations
  • Eccentric and Isometric Muscle Testing
  • Postural and Symmetry Assessments
  • Flexibility and Stability Assessments
  • Hydration and Heat Strategies
  • Fuel Source Selection and Recovery

Eligibility

Sports Health and Performance or Health and Wellness background is highly recommended.
  • Current University of Florida Undergraduate APK or HEB Student
  • HIPAA & Privacy General Awareness training
  • Bloodborne Pathogens and OSHA training
  • American Heart Association First Aid, CPR, AED certification
  • Complete UAA Volunteer form (completed on first day of experience)
  • Complete UAA non-disclosure form (completed on first day of employment)

Goals and Objectives

  • Integration of classroom knowledge to competent on-field experiences that promote an enhanced holistic learning experience.
  • Learn and acquire skills and critical thinking under the supervision of qualified professionals
  • Help assist current UAA Sports Health Performance Team with various job responsibilities to maximize performance, safety and optimize athletic ability.
  • Each student will be required to complete an end of the semester project encapsulating the experience and spectrum of competencies learned and achieved throughout semester.

Policies and Procedures:

  • Each student will be required to complete an orientation and onboarding training prior to start of their field experience.
  • Students are to adhere to all rules and regulations put forth by their sport supervisor. Any violation of these policies and procedure may result in dismissal from experience. For further information, please refer to the UF APK Undergraduate Internship Policies and Procedures Manual.

  • Summer Term – Accepting applications: January 15 - March 12
  • Fall Term – Accepting applications: March 15 - April 1
  • Spring Term – Accepting applications: October 6th -October 31st
