Project Updates

May 2023: Demolition & Shade Structure Work

The demolition phase of the renovation project is underway at Pressly Stadium. Additionally, the construction team began work on a shade structure that will be added over the starting blocks located in front of the stadium stands.

June 2023: Pour Concrete Foundations

Aside from demolition, the first major step in new construction has commenced at James G. Pressly Stadium. In the month of June, concrete foundations will be poured and the area devoted to the new timing and officials building will start to form.

July 2023: Second Floor Steel Framing and Deck & Completion of Shade Structure

As people gaze upon the track, they can begin to gauge the size of the timing building as during the month of July the construction team began to add steel framework to the second floor of the building. Furthermore, July marked the completion of the Shade Structure which features eight brick pillars which encase eight steel beams that support the roof above. Underneath the roof one may notice the installation of two fans which will aid in keeping athletes cool when waiting in the queue of heats.

August 2023: Roof Deck Installation

During August a roof was added to the timing building. The roof itself is orientated at a slant and sits on top of the building with a slight overhang on each side.
