Ryan Orr leads Florida on Opening Day of Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Gators' Ryan Orr tied his season- and career-best round of 2-under 70 to lead the University of Florida men's golf team after the opening day of the Seminole Intercollegiate Friday. As a team, the Orange and Blue sits tied for 11th among the 17-team field.
Orr's first-round score landed him in a tie for 15th, but he will enter the second round only one stroke shy of the nine-way tie for sixth place.
J.D. Tomlinson posted yet another consistent round Friday, shooting even-par (72), while Alejandro Tosti shot a 1-over 73. A.J. Crouch recorded a 2-over 74, and Thomas Stewart added a 6-over 78 in his first performance since the fall season.
East Tennessee State shot a 12-under 276 in the first round to rise to the top of the team leaderboard. The Buccaneers have a five-stroke advantage over No. 2 Louisville and the rest of the field. East Tennessee State also holds the top individual spot, as Gudmundur Kristjansson recorded a 9-under 63 to lead by five strokes.
The Gators return to the SouthWood Golf Course Saturday for Round 2 of the Seminole Intercollegiate.

On the team's performance in Round 1:
“No one seemed to get a lot out of their rounds, from what I've heard from the guys. I walked all 18 holes with Ryan Orr today, and he was awesome. He's really close to breaking out. He had a fantastic attitude and just had a couple of errors on the greens. He was close to a really good day, but I think we're all really close. The guys were a little bit frustrated after the round today, so I expect them to be better the next couple of days.”
On the tightness of the competition:
“Everyone else is right in the pack. So, after two good days, we'll be right in the thick of it. I'm excited.”
