Thursday, February 25, 2016 | Women's Tennis
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The No. 7-ranked University of Florida women's tennis team travels to the west coast this weekend for the final two matches on their nonconference schedule. The first task is a tough one with the Gators facing an undefeated and No. 1-ranked California on Friday at the Hellman Tennis Complex at 3 p.m. ET.
Two weeks have passed since the Gators' last matches, where UF swept Baylor and Clemson in the same weekend. Following those victories, sophomore Brooke Austin was named SEC Player of the Week with two doubles and two singles wins.
In five matches this season, Florida has only used the same lineup twice and have not dropped a doubles point. UF will continue its weekend against Pac-12 opponents on Sunday afternoon against familiar juggernaut, Stanford. First serve for that match is 3 p.m. ET.
Last Time with Bears
Florida defeated Cal on May 19, 2013 in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The victory gave the UF their fourth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Final Four. Current senior Brianna Morgan was part of the victory, getting a doubles win at the No. 3 position and started the match at No. 4 singles.
Series History with California
The Gators are 6-0 against the Golden Bears.
