
Gators Finish Play At Valspar Collegiate

PALM CITY, Fla. - Freshman Sam Horsfield posted an even-par 71 on Tuesday to earn his eighth top-20 finish and lead the No. 2 University of Florida men's golf team on the final day of the Valspar Collegiate.
The Gators carded a 14 (298) at the Floridian Golf Club to wrap up the Valspar Collegiate in 15th place with a total of 57 (909). Horsfield was Florida's top finisher for the sixth time this season, tying for 20th at 5 (218).
With a total of 3 (855), Texas held onto the lead to win the tournament by five strokes. LSU's Zach Wright took individual medalist honors after defeating Texas A&M's Chandler Phillips on the first hole of a playoff. The pair finished stroke play with scores of 2-under 211s to force the playoff.
Up next, UF travels to Franklin, Tenn., for the Mason Rudolph Championship, held April 2-3 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. It will be the final tournament of the regular season before the Gators head to St. Simons, Ga., for the SEC Championship.

"It's one that you want to learn from a little bit and forget. It wasn't a very successful week, for whatever reason, and I'm sure it's going to make us better. We'll find out the reason down the road, but it's just kind of hard to understand it right now."
