Gators excel on day one of the Windon Memorial

Freshman Andy Zhang had a strong debut for the Gators, carding 68 and 70 in his first two rounds for Florida. He finished the day six-under and in sole possession of second place.
Sophomore Gordon Neale also played well, scoring 70 in both rounds and ended the day tied for third at four-under. Sophomore Ryan Celano was the third Gator to wrap up the day under-par, carding 72 and 71 to be one-under after the first two rounds.
Wisconsin's Jordan Hahn used a five-under 67 in the second round to take the a one-stroke lead (-7) in the individual medal competition.

(on Andy Zhang's performance) "The most surprising part of it was he just hadn't been able to prepare like he normally would because he's had a sore wrist. He practices as much as anyone I know and hasn't been able to do that lately, so it was probably a good lesson for him that when he goes into a tournament with a fresh mind and a fresh body, he can do some amazing things. He's a special player and this is the type of performance that we'll expect from him all year long."
(on what the team has to do to maintain the lead in the final round) "They've just got to go out and play their game. All five of them are playing well and doing a lot of things right. This team wants to win and wants to win big, and they've got an opportunity to do it tomorrow. I know they're not going to need any motivation or pump up, they're going to be ready to rock."
