Four Gators Finish in Top 10 at SunTrust Invitational
Sunday, February 19, 2017 | Men's Golf
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida men's golf had four individuals place inside the top 10, while the team finished in fourth place with a 54-hole score of +13 (853).
Through some challenging weather conditions over the two-day tournament, UF was the only school to have four individuals place inside the top 10.
Alejandro Tosti and Andy Zhang finished in a tie for sixth place with score of one-over 211. The junior and freshman recorded scores of four-under (66) as they each climbed 13 spots on the leaderboard in Sunday's final round, respectively.
Zhang's scores were season bests for 18 and 54 holes this season.
Sophomore Sam Horsfield finished tied for eighth and bookended his weekend with scores of two-under (68) and one-over (71) to card a two-over (212) for the Invitational. In addition, redshirt senior A.J. Crouch rounded out the Gators in the top 10, as he finished tied for 10th with a three-over, 213.
After recording the top team scores in rounds one and two, Arkansas held off the field in Sunday's finale to capture the SunTrust Gator Invitational title with a five-over 845 for the weekend. Arkansas sophomore Charles Kim won the individual title with a six-under 204. This was the second time that Arkansas captured the team title, the first coming in 2014.

On how he felt about the tournament…
"Too many mistakes and pushing too hard on a golf course that you couldn't push around. The golf course won this week, I think you see with the totals, the winning (team) score is over-par, the individual winning score was low, so we just made too many mistakes when we couldn't and they were all mental. The talent is there, we have world-class players, it's just that we've got to be smarter and more patient and disciplined against tough golf course like this. If we can learn the lessons this week, we'll be unbelievable, but if we keep doing the same things, this is the result that we're going to get."
On the course playing a lot tougher this year…
"The course was really hard and that was done on purpose. When we ran into adversity last year that was the one thing that slowed this team down. It was our one chance this week to create our own adversity and we did that yesterday and our guys did not adapt well enough. We've got work to do, we've got some talking to do, but we're going to be better, we're going to learn from this and hopefully this is going to be the kind of tournament that really catapults our season to becoming big time."
