
Gators Travel to Dallas for Trinity Forest Invitational

Florida to take part in inaugural event along with seven other top 25 teams
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida travels to Dallas, Texas for the Trinity Forest Invitational.
The inaugural event, hosted by SMU, is comprised of 13 teams from across the country. The Gators are not strangers to the Texas heat placing second in last year's Nike Collegiate. Florida finished just one of the tournament champions, Vanderbilt.
The No. 10 Gators are joined at the tournament by seven other top 25 schools (No. 6 Texas, No. 8 USC, No. 9 Oregon, No. 13 Auburn, No. 17 Clemson, No. 22 Texas Tech and No. 23 Pepperdine).
Last time out on the course, Alejandro Tosti topped the leaderboard at the Carpet Capital Invitational winning the tournament by two strokes. Carding a 205 (-11), Tosti was just two strokes off the course record. The performance helped Tosti move up to No. 10 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
After leading the first two rounds of the Carpet Capital, the Gators would slip back to a tie for fifth carding a three round total of 862 (-2).
Andy Zhang makes his first appearance in the Florida starting five as coach J.C. Deacon slotted him in as the No. 3 this week.
Course Information: The tournament is being played at the Par 71, 7,302 yards at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas. This is the inaugural year of the tournament. Trinity Forest will become the future home of the PGA TOUR's AT&T Byron Nelson Championship, as well as annually host NCAA invitational tournament and additional high-profile professional and amateur events.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds over three days. The first 18-holes will be played on Sunday.
The Gators' Lineup
Alejandro Tosti
The reigning SEC Individual Champion continued to show his world class talent at the Carpet Capital winning the event by two stokes. It helped Tosti move to No. 10 in the WAGR.
Gordon Neale
For the second straight tournament, coach Deacon slots Neale in the No. 2 position in the Florida lineup. Through two rounds at the Carpet Capital, Neale was tied for 20th.
Andy Zhang
Zhang enters the Gator lineup for the first time this season. He competed as an individual at the Carpet Capital finishing tied for 56th.
Chris Nido
Nido makes his second career appearance in Orange and Blue. He jumped out to a strong start for the Gators at the Carpet Capital as he was tied for ninth through 18-holes of play.
John Axelsen
The Denmark native will be making his second start in his Gator career. Axelsen currently ranks 24th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. At the Carpet Capital, Axelsen finished tied for 48th.
Also Competing
Blake Dyer
After taking a redshirt year last season, Dyer is back on the course for the Gators. He appeared in three tournaments as a true freshman in 2015-16 placing tied for 15th at the FGCU Classic.
