
Gators head to Birmingham for SEC Championships

Florida returns to Greystone Country Club as the defending champions
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators return to Birmingham, Ala. the reigning SEC Tournament Champions.
Florida won the Championship with a three-day total of 22-under 842 at Greystone Golf & Country Club Legacy Course.
The Gators entered the final day tied with a five-stroke lead and fired a final round 10-under 278 to claim their first SEC title since 2008. Florida also set a record for the lowest three-day SEC Championship total.
Returning from last year's lineup are sophomore Marta Perez and senior Taylor Tomlinson. Perez will be playing out of the No. 2 position while Tomlinson is slotted in the No. 4 spot.
Last year, Tomlinson fired a 212 (-4) three-round score which tied her for seventh on the leaderboard.
This year, the conference tournament moves to a new format. The first three days will consist of three rounds of stroke play. The top eight teams after stroke play will advance to match play which starts on Saturday morning.
Course Information: The tournament is being held at the Par 72, 6,202 yards Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds over first three days followed by an eight team match play on Saturday and Sunday.

Coach's Take:
On beginning the postseason at the SEC Championship:

On the team's focus heading into the tournament:
"Of course, we want to do well and know what winning this championship means. However, to do that we also know that our main focus this week has to be in staying in the present and competing on every shot, control the things that we can control. The Gators' Lineup
Brooks claimed two individual titles this spring while finishing five of her tournaments even par or better. This will be her fifth time this spring in the No. 1 spot in the lineup.
Perez has finished inside of the top 25 seven times in 10 starts this season including her last five times out.
The Gator freshman slides into the No. 3 position after being the Gators third best finisher in the last two events. Baggarly has been in the Florida lineup in all but one tournament in her rookie campaign.
Tomlinson returns to Greystone after finishing seventh in last year's tournament, 31st in 2016 and 20th in 2015.
Elin Esborn
Esborn returns to the Florida lineup after missing the last two events. She currently is third on the team in stroke average at 73.40 behind Brooks and Perez.
