Florida 10-over with four players inside of top 25 on leaderboard
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gators finished the first round of the SEC Tournament in fourth after carding a score of 10-over-par.
Florida currently has four players inside of the top 25 on the leaderboard led by sophomore Sierra Brooks who is tied for seventh.
Brooks shot 72 (E) Wednesday and sits three shots back of Alabama's Kristen Gillman for the individual lead. She was 2-under at the turn and tied for the lead with teammate Marta Perez but, bogies on No. 10 and 11 brought her back to even.
Perez as well Addie Baggarly turned in 75 (+3) scores as both are tied for 18th.
One shot back of them is Taylor Tomlinson who finished with a 76 (+4) including a team-best 38 on the back nine. Tomlinson was aided by a string of seven consecutive pars from No. 11 to No. 17.
Florida will tee off of No. 1 with Elin Esborn off first at 9:50 a.m. ET. The Gators will be paired with Arkansas and Missouri.

Coach's Take:
On the Gators' first round:
"Overall, I think we gave a few away on the back. The start was great but, the conditions on the back nine were very difficult. The wind really picked up. So, you' were probably going to make a couple of bogies on the back nine today. It is more about us trying to eliminate some of the mental errors we had where we tried to force it a little bit instead of playing the golf course for what it was in those conditions." - Coach Emily Bastel Glaser
On lessons learned heading into day two:
"We talked a little bit after the round on what we learned and the adjustments we can make for the next couple of days and into the weekend. Winning a championship in this conference is going to be a battle so, we battled today and we are going to have to continue to battle the rest of the week. It's important to emotionally to keep up our resilience and resolve" - Coach Emily Bastel Glaser
On how the course plays:
"It's an interesting golf course in that even the scoreable holes you have to pay attention to what you are doing. You have to know when to take your medicine and when to force it. With the wind blowing the way it was today, it is not a golf course that you can overpower." - Coach Emily Bastel Glaser
