DALLAS – After an 18-hole first round of the Trinity Forest Invitational, the Gators men's golf team sits in eighth out of 13 teams at the event.
Eight birdies helped sophomore John Axelsen rise to the top of the leaderboard in his first event with the Gators this season after being a member of the winning Denmark team at the World Amateur Team Championships at the beginning of the month.
Senior Gordon Neale sits at even par after the first round of the event he placed second in just a year ago. Freshmen Aden Ye and Eugene Hong are competing in their second consecutive event as Gators, with Ye sitting at +2 and Hong at +4 after round one of the Trinity Forest Invitational. Sophomore Chris Nido sits just a stroke behind Ye after the first day.
