Saturday, April 20, 2019 | Men's Golf
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Florida Gators men's golf team closed out their regular season with the second-best finish and four players inside the top 25.
After finishing the first round in fourth, the tournament got shortened to only two rounds due to weather. Today's second round was the final and the Gators took advantage of their position. Sophomore Chris Nido finished his 18 holes with four birdies in a row to card a 68 and finish in a tie for eighth. Senior Gordon Neale was right behind him with four birdies on the day and also carding a final-round score of 68. He finished T11.
Junior Blake Dyer had his best finish of the season in only his second appearance in the lineup this spring, with a one-under score of 70 in the final round and finishing T17. Sophomore John Axelsen was the fourth Gator to finish inside the top 25 at T21.
Coach's Take
"In a sense, our season was on the line today. For Chris and Gordon to step up like they did is so huge. Both shooting 68 and Chris making four birdies to finish his round takes some serious guts. I'm very proud of all the guys really. For us to come up with one of our best rounds of the year when we needed it most, that's so awesome."- Head Coach JC Deacon
"What a great way to head into our conference championships. We are all excited to keep the momentum of this huge round going. You never know what can happen!" – Coach Deacon
