Florida heads into the final round of play in their first collegiate tournament of the fall season.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Florida men's golf team heads into the final round of stroke play at the debut of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational while currently siting in 11th after shooting 5-over on the day.
Ricky Castillo was the low shooter for the Gators in round two, posting a 3-under par score of 69 to finish 2-over overall. Castillo is currently the only men's golfer to card two eagles during the tournament, doing so in the first round on the fifth hole and today on the fifteenth.
Junior transfer Giovanni Manzoni is currently second for the Gators individually after posting a 3-over par scorecard over the first two rounds to sit in a tie for 27th.
Florida is set to tee it up at 10:04 a.m. ET tomorrow in the final round of competition.
Head Coach JC Deacon's Take
On team improvements…
"It was a very long day and the course got really tough the last eight holes. Greens got crispy and we just don't adjust quick enough. We definitely need to hit more greens in regulation and be able to lag putt at a higher level."
On the leaderboard…
"I know the leaderboard doesn't look pretty, but I've watched every shot our team has hit this week and we are close. We are going to be really, really good this year. Our goal for tomorrow is to have everyone shoot under par and I bet we do it."
