GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Athletics Department has appointed Kevin Hurley as Executive Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Capital Projects. Hurley brings more than two decades of leadership experience in collegiate athletics administration, facility development, and large-scale capital project management—including oversight of Texas A&M's $450 million redevelopment of Kyle Field.
In his role, Hurley will serve on the department's executive leadership team and oversee all capital improvement initiatives. His responsibilities will include managing project timelines and budgets, coordinating vendor relationships, guiding risk-mitigation strategies, and ensuring that Florida's facilities meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and competitive performance.
"Kevin brings a wealth of experience building and managing top-tier athletics facilities and led Texas A&M's redevelopment of Kyle Field, a $450 million project completed in 2015," said Athletics Director Scott Stricklin. "He offers a rare blend of senior-level management expertise and hands-on operational experience from earlier in his career, particularly in recruiting and internal team operations."
Hurley most recently served as Director of Quality Assurance for the Texas A&M University System, where he managed athletics-related projects across member campuses, developed revenue-generating initiatives, and supported system-wide strategic projects.
"I am honored to join Florida and grateful for the opportunity to work with such a talented group of coaches, staff, and student-athletes," Hurley said. "I look forward to building on the proud traditions of Gator Athletics while preparing for the future."
From 2022–2024, Hurley worked in the private sector as a Collegiate Capital Project Advisor/Project Executive with The Nations Group, an industry-leading owner's-representative firm for collegiate stadium and arena developments. He supported major university clients through day-to-day coordination with architects, contractors, campus leaders, third-party consultants, and government entities—serving as an extension of institutional facility and construction teams.
Prior to that role, Hurley spent 30 years at Texas A&M, including seven as Associate Athletics Director for Facilities. His extensive project portfolio includes some of the Aggies' most recognizable and award-winning facilities, such as Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park, the Hildebrand Equine Complex, the Davis Football Player Development Center, the Bright Football Complex expansion, the RC Slocum Nutrition Center, the Cox-McFerrin Center for Aggie Basketball, the McFerrin Athletic Center, the Ellis Soccer Stadium expansion, and the West Campus Player Development Center.
During his long tenure in College Station, Hurley also served as sport administrator for baseball, women's soccer, and equestrian. Earlier roles included administrative assistant for men's basketball and baseball, basketball recruiting coordinator, assistant athletic director for basketball operations, and associate athletic director for internal operations.
Before joining Texas A&M, Hurley served as home and visiting clubhouse manager for the Triple-A Omaha Royals and spent 13 years working the College World Series in various leadership capacities, including assistant tournament director and NCAA Regional tournament director. He also served two years as assistant director of championships for the Missouri Valley Conference.
A native of Billings, Montana, Hurley graduated from Creighton University in 1990 with a degree in accounting and earned a Master of Science in accounting from Texas A&M in 2000.
Hurley is married to the former Julie Musial. They have two children, Jarrett and Darby. Darby is married to Chris Williams.
