What Happened
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior forward Thomas Haugh stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three blocks and the Florida defense held the nation's highest-scoring team to its lowest-scoring game of the season, as the Gators defeated 18th-ranked Georgia 92-77 Tuesday night at Exactech Arena/O'Connell Center.The Bulldogs came into the game averaging 99.4 points overall and 27 fast-break points per game, both tops in college basketball. They finished one point below their previous season low and with just 10 points in transition while UF raced to 35. The Gators shot 46.7% for the game, with 56 points in the paint, dominated the boards 56-35 (including 22-11 on the offensive end) and despite another tough night from the 3-point line (24%) handed UGA -- off to its best 14-game start in 95 years -- its second loss of the season.
Haugh, with his third double-double of the season, went eight of 15 overall, 2-for-5 from deep and 3-for-4 at the free-throw line over 36 minutes. Forward Alex Condon also scored 21 points to go with eight rebounds, while backup guard Urban Klavzar (11 points) and center Rueben Chinyelu (10) joined Haugh and Condon in double-figure scoring. Sophomore point guard Boogie Fland had eight points, eight rebounds and six assists. Reserve sophomore guard Isaiah Brown came off the bench to tally nine points, six rebounds and three blocks in 13 minutes.
UF led by just one, 41-40, after at halftime, with UGA center Somto Cyril ejected for throwing a punch nearly 10 minutes into the game. The Gators slowly built their margin in the second half, taking advantage of Bulldogs' turnovers, led by as many as 21 with about six minutes to go and held the visitors to 4-for-19 from deep for the game.

It was going to be a tough ask for the Bulldogs to pull off the road upset after losing thje 6-foot-11, 260-pound Cyril with 30 minutes to go in the game, but UF's defense and rebounding during the first few minutes of the second half set the tone.Staggering Statistic
Georgia scoring leader, guard and California transfer Jeremiah Wilkinson, came in averaging 18.3 points and coming off a 31-point outburst in the Bulldogs' overtime win Saturday against Auburn. Wilkinson, who was playing through a sore ankle, finished with two points on 1-for-9 shooting over 19 minutes.Up Next
Florida (10-5, 1-1) is back at home for another huge SEC game Saturday against No. 24 Tennessee (10-4, 0-1) at noon. The Volunteers, who opened SEC play with a loss at Arkansas, face Texas in a Tuesday league nightcap. The Gators defeated the Vols in two of their meetings last season, including in the SEC Tournament championship game to claim their first conference crown since 2014.
