What Happened
OXFORD, Miss. – Forward Alex Condon scored 24 points and wingman Thomas Haugh threw in 20 more and grabbed nine rebounds Saturday afternoon, as the 12th-ranked Florida Gators rolled over Ole Miss in their Southeastern Conference game at The Pavilion.Condon went nine of 13 from the floor (and made just his third 3-pointer in league play) and also had six assists. Haugh went six of 13 overall with a couple 3s and left the game one point shy of scoring the 1,000th of his career. Backup guard Urban Klavzar came off the bench to rain in four 3-pointers on his way to 15 points in leading the team's best performance -- 11 of 22 (50%) -- from the arc in SEC play this season. Senior guard Xaivian Lee had his first double-double as a Gator with 11 points and a career-high 10 of his team's 26 assists (on 32 field goals).
UF extended its season-high winning streak to seven straight (its 12th of the last 13) and maintained a two-game lead atop the SEC standings with four to play. The Gators, with their sixth consecutive road win, shot 57% overall for the game, converted on 19 of 22 free throws (86.4%) and had a 39-24 advantage on the glass. The totality of it all allowed the visitors to overcome a 19 turnovers, equaling their season-worst total, and helping prevent the Rebels from being run out of their building through the first 24 minutes.
The win was Florida's first in the series on the road since 2016, snapping a skid of four losses.
Ole Miss hit six of its first eight field goals and had an early 12-10 lead when the Gators took off on a run of nine consecutive points, including Klavzar's first 3, then another five-point run to open a double-digit advantage they'd hold for virtually the rest of the game.
Turning Point
Mississippi got within seven points early in the second half, but a driving bank by Haugh and a Boogie Fland 3-pointer (just his third in 11 games) pushed the margin back to 12 and the Rebels never got inside 10 the rest of the way.Staggering Statistic
UF became the first power conference team since the 1996-97 season to win four consecutive league road games by at least 19 points. The average margin of victory in those four is 23.8 points.Up Next
