Tuesday, March 24, 2026 | Softball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second time this season, Taylor Shumaker is the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after helping lead the Florida softball team to a 2-1 series victory over No. 1 Tennessee.
She shares the weekly award with Oklahoma's Isabela Emerling.
Shumaker batted a team-best .500 (5-for-10) with a home run, two RBIs, a walk and two runs in three games against the Lady Vols, including driving in two of Florida's three runs in the series-clinching game on March 22.
She opened the rubber match with a leadoff solo home run, her 13th home run of the season, to give the Gators an early lead, before batting in another with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.
The outfielder had two multi-hit games against the Tennessee, who's pitching staff holds the lowest ERA in the NCAA, extending her hitting streak to a career and team-best 15 games. She now has 19 multi-hit outings this season.
Shumaker ranks second in the NCAA in runs scored (52), third in hits (56) and fifth in total bases (106).
She has plated a run in all but four of Florida's 33 games this season.
Shumaker and the No. 3/5 Gators (31-2) return to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on Wednesday, hosting Stetson at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+.
