Since 2008, Florida ranks first nationally in MLB debuts, College World Series trips, Super Regionals hosted, top-eight national seeds and NCAA Tournament bids.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators advanced to their 18th-consecutive NCAA Tournament under Head Coach Kevin O'Sullivan this past season, giving the Orange & Blue the longest-active postseason streak in the country.
Florida's 18-year run is five years longer than the next-closest program, Oklahoma State (13). In fact, the Gators' current NCAA Tournament streak is twice as long as any other SEC team, with Arkansas the closest at nine years in a row dating back to 2017. Florida has appeared in every postseason dating back to 2008, when O'Sullivan first took the reins as the head man in Gainesville.
Since O'Sullivan's 2008 arrival, no college program has produced more MLB players (43), College World Series trips (nine), Super Regionals hosted (nine), top-eight national seeds (11) and NCAA Tournament bids (18) than the Florida Gators. In that span, Florida also leads the SEC in regular-season titles (six), conference wins (323) and conference winning percentage (.599).
Across the 18 NCAA Tournaments during O'Sullivan's tenure, Florida has advanced to nine College World Series for an overall Omaha success rate of 50%. That is far and away the top Omaha success rate in the sport of the 21st century. The crowning moment came in 2017, when Florida fully established itself as the marquee program in all of college baseball with the program's first National Championship.
While the Gators have excelled to unprecedented heights on the diamond across the past two decades, they have also been developing an unrivaled level of MLB talent. Since 2008, Florida's 43 MLB debuts rank first nationally – six more than any other school.
