- Title:
- Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Rashon Burno
Rashon Burno has coached at Florida for three seasons, helping lead the Gators to an 81-28 record (.743), two SEC championships and the 2014 Final Four.
A former point guard at DePaul, Burno is deeply involved with UF’s backcourt. Point guard Scottie Wilbekin was the 2014 SEC Player of the Year, and is one of three guards who have earned All-SEC honors during Burno’s time at UF (Kenny Boynton, Mike Rosario). Florida’s 36-3 mark in 2013-14 included a 30-game winning streak, the SEC’s first-ever 18-0 regular season and the SEC Tournament title.
Florida is 28-5 (.848) when Burno is the lead scout coach, highlighted by UF’s 2013-14 win vs. a Kansas team that included Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid. Burno also scouted an NCAA Tournament victory in each of his first two seasons at Florida.
Prior to UF, Burno coached the 2011-12 season at Manhattan College under Steve Masiello and the 2010-11 season at Towson University under Pat Kennedy.
During his playing career, Burno helped DePaul to two postseason appearances and was on the 2001 C-USA All-Tournament Team. In high school, Burno helped anchor back-to-back national championships (1996-97) at St. Anthony’s in Jersey City under Bob Hurley.
