Overview
- Saw his playing time increase dramatically his junior and senior seasons, ultimately becoming the most accomplished walk-on of the Donovan Era and arguably in Florida basketball history.
- Named to the 2015 SEC Community Service Team and was a nominee for SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year.
- Started seven games during his senior season, becoming the first walk-on since Dan Williams (1997) to start a game for Florida.
- Finished his career with 188 points scored and 167 rebounds.
- Originally earned a spot on the roster in Oct. 2011.
- Enrolled at UF in Fall 2010 and was a basketball manager during the 2010-11 season.
2014-15, Senior Season
- Named to the SEC Community Service Team and was a nominee for SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year.
- Made his first career start vs. Miami, recording six points and eight rebounds.
- Scored 132 points in 33 games, including seven starts, finishing with averages of 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
- Recorded at least 15 minutes played in 24 games, playing a career high 36 minutes vs. Miami and Louisiana-Monroe.
- Posted career-best games in scoring and rebounding with 10 points vs. Yale and 13 rebounds vs. Louisiana-Monroe, both Florida wins.
- Recorded a personal best three assists on three different occasions.
2013-14, Junior Season
- Saw his first extended action, totaling more minutes in the first three games than he had his entire career.
- Played double-digit minutes in each of Florida’s first seven games (19.7 avg.), scoring 4.1 points and grabbing 3.9 rebounds over that stretch.
- Started in the exhibition game vs. Florida Southern, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds.
- Converted his first career three-point play in a career-long 27 minutes in the win over Middle Tennessee.
- Scored a career-high eight points against Florida State and grabbed five rebounds.
- Made his first appearance in the NCAA Tournament vs. Dayton.
2012-13, Sophomore Season
- Played in 20 games and scored 12 points.
- Made good on his first 3-point attempt as a Gator and tallied a then-career-best five points in the SEC opener against Georgia.
2011-12, Freshman Season
- Saw action in four games off the bench.
- Made his collegiate debut against Mississippi Valley State scoring two points on a pair of free throws. Kurtz also grabbed a rebound in four minutes of action against the Delta Devils
Prep
- All-Conference honorable mention in Seminole Country.
- Led Hagerty in scoring (13 ppg), rebounding (9 rpg) and steals (2 spg) and was named the team’s defensive player of the year as a senior.
- Two-time team captain.
- Coached by Josh Kohn.
- Also played baseball as a middle infielder for two seasons.
