Daniel Boice enters his third season at Florida in 2025-26 after joining Kelly Rae Finley's in the summer of 2023. Boice started at UF as the Director of Player Development, after spending time at Kentucky developing the 2021 No. 1 draft pick, Rhyne Howard. Boice was a key role in Howard’s success, leading to an SEC Championship in 2021. Under Boice’s direction, Howard also received the SEC Tournament MVP award, one of the most prestigious honors that the league awards.
Bringing over a decade of experience in the collegiate basketball space, Boice was elevated to Assistant Coach in May of 2023, following his first season at Florida. Boice’s first year can be highlighted by is efforts in bringing WNBA All-Star and SEC great, Rhyne Howard to the Gators coaching staff. Boice continues to be a large factor in the Gators development both on and off the court.
Prior to Florida, Daniel spent seven seasons at the University of Kentucky as their Director of Player Development and was also appointed interim assistant coach during the 2020-21 season.
During his time with the Wildcats, Boice helped Kentucky reach the NCAA tournament four times, which included three second-round berths, and won the SEC Tournament during the 2021-22 campaign.
Boice’s first three years in Kentucky had a strong focus on opponent scouting and coordinating, which attributes to his verse skill set in video analysis. His expertise in video coordination and analysis strings all the way back to his time with Arizona.
Prior to Kentucky, Boice was the coaching video coordinator at Arizona, where he was an undergraduate student manager for three years before being promoted to video coordinator for two seasons.
He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and later received his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Boice played basketball for Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa for one season before transitioning to a student assistant coach. As a student assistant he coordinated summer and team camps as well as recruiting. Boice also implemented player development workouts for the team including five players who were named to NAIA All-Conference teams.
