Jon Michelini is in his 13th season with the Florida Gators in 2025-26 and his second with the men's basketball program, previously working with the baseball and women's basketball teams.

In his first season with men’s basketball, Florida claimed its third all-time national championship, its sixth Final Four berth and its fifth SEC Tournament championship.

The championships all came as part of a memorable 12-game win streak to end the season that began March 1. The 12-game run to close the season included nine top-25 wins, a total that eclipsed any full-season total in program history. Eight of the nine ranked wins were vs. teams in the top 12. The Gators totaled 12 top-25 wins, eight top-10 wins and a pair of wins vs. the #1 team in the nation.

Michelini’s work helped the Gators weather the 40-game season with their top seven players in minutes combining to miss just seven total games all season. Three players – Rueben Chinyelu, Thomas Haugh and Will Richard – played all 40 games to match the program record.

During his time with the women's basketball program, Michelini was part of four postseason runs, including the team's 2021 NCAA Tournament appearance.

Prior to transitioning to the basketball court, Michelini spent six seasons (2014-19) on the diamond with the Gators' baseball team where he was responsible for the prevention, care and rehabilitation of injuries and also oversees the management of the baseball and softball athletic training facilities.

Michelini joined Florida’s athletic training staff in January 2014 and helped Florida baseball to three third Southeastern Conference championships. Tthe Gators also reached the College World Series four years in a row (2015-18) and won the program’s first national title in 2017 during Michelini's tenure.

While at LSU beginning in the fall of 2010, he worked with the Tigers’ baseball program and had secondary responsibilities overseeing men’s golf and cheerleading. Michelini went to Baton Rouge after spending three years at Auburn as the certified trainer for baseball. Before his time on the Plains, Michelini spent three years at Stetson as an assistant athletic trainer, working primarily with men’s soccer and baseball.

Prior to joining Stetson, Michelini served as a certified graduate assistant at South Alabama, working with track & field, cross country and baseball. He earned his master’s degree in exercise science from South Alabama in 2004.

Michelini received his bachelor’s of science in exercise and sport sciences from the University of Florida in 2001. In his first stint in Gainesville, he worked with the Gators’ baseball team under head coach Andy Lopez.

Michelini also interned with HealthSouth, Buchholz High School, Hampton Oaks Sports Medicine Center and Gaither High School.

A native of Oradell, N.J., he is married to the former Heather Quicke of Perry, Fla. The couple has two children, a daughter, Lillian, and a son, Hamilton.
