GAINESVILLE, Fla. β The No. 9 University of Florida soccer team (14-2-1, 6-1) scored five times in the second half to defeat South Carolina (8-9, 2-6) 5-2 in front of a Percy Beard Stadium crowd of 826.

The Gamecocks broke the scoreless tie at the 21:11 mark of the first half with a goal by Jennie Ondo.Β Less than five minutes later, Ondo scored again off a double assist by Mandy Pavlovits and Megan Gutstadt.

In the second half, the Gators dominated with 29 shots on goal compared to USC's two shots.Β Sarah Yohe scored the Gators' first goal off a cross from Melissa Pini to make the score 2-1.Β Katie Tullis scored the first of two goals with a header off a cross from freshman Andi Sellers.Β Tullis gave the Gators the lead with another header offΒ a Sellers' corner kick to put the Gators up 3-2.

Melissa Pini scored her 14th goal of the season at the 76:51 point of the second half with an assist from Angie Olson to give the Gators the 4-2 lead.Β Sellers scored her team-leading 16th goal of the season to go along with two assists to put the Gators up by the final score of 5-2.

The Gators only loss came with a right knee injury to midfielder Lisa Olinyk, who will be evaluated by doctors on Monday.

With the Gators' win and Vanderbilt's win Sunday over Kentucky, 3-1, the Florida earns the Eastern Division No.2 seed in the upcoming Southeastern Conference Tournamen,t Nov 6-9 in Gainesville.Β The Gators have one SEC game remaining against Auburn Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. at Percy Beard Stadium.
