
Castillo Sparkles, Gators Even After First Round in Washington

The Florida Gators are tied for eighth at the conclusion of the first day at NCAA Regionals.
CLE ELUM, Wash. – The Florida men's golf team completed first round competition at the NCAA Regionals today, posting an even scorecard to sit in a tie for eighth place.
Sophomore Ricky Castillo led the charge for the Gators, posting a sparkling 3-under par 68 and finishing tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. Castillo recorded only one bogey through 18 holes, while carding four birdies along the way.
All-American transfer Yuxin Lin sits two strokes behind Castillo, carding a 1-under par 70 and tying for 15th. After beginning the round with a bogey on the par-4 first hole, Lin was stellar. The sophomore carded birdies on the 5th and 15th holes while posting even par the rest of the way.
Giovanni Manzoni and Tyler Wilkes both finished the day 2-over par and tied for 43rd. Wilkes began the day flawlessly, recording even pars on each hole through the 11th before the 12th hole resulted in a bogey.
Joe Pagdin rounded out the Gators lineup, posting a 4-over par score of 75 to sit in a tie for 58th heading into tomorrow's second round.
Florida will continue its postseason run tomorrow at 11:55 a.m. ET when they head back out on the Tumble Creek course for the second round of play.
