GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Thanksgiving plans for a pair of Gators – Abby Gemma and Kai Tsakiris – include a trip to Spain to take part in the U.S. Soccer U-20 International Training Camp. The camp, set for San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain, runs from Nov. 24-Dec. 3 and includes a pair of matches:

About the Gators:
This camp is the second for new U.S. U-20 WNT head coach Vicky Jepson and the matches are her first international competitions at the helm.
This camp serves as a preparation for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, set for Sept. 5-27 in Poland. The USA is among the 12 nations to qualify for the event, with 12 more looking to fill out the 24 nation field.
Among the 20 players heading to Spain are eight (including both Gators) who meet the 2026 FIFA U-20 World Cup requirement of being born on or after Jan. 1, 2006. The other 12 were born in 2007. Gemma and Tsakiris are among the seven college players on the roster, which also includes six NWSL, three USL Super League, two youth club players, one NWSL player out on loan and one unattached.

About the Gators:
- Abby Gemma and Kai Tsakiris were only two Gators to start every 2025 match.
- Gemma led all with 1,604 minutes played from her center back position. She scored the game-winner at Texas.
- Tsakiris was one of four freshmen to earn All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2025. She was a third-team selection and also landed on the SEC All-Freshman team. She led UF in points (13), assists (5) and shared the goals lead (4).
- U.S. U-20 action is nothing new for the Tsakiris family. Her older brother, Niko, was part of the U.S.'s roster for the FIFA Men's U-20 World Cup played earlier this fall in Chile. Their father, Shaun, was part of the U.S.'s U-20 team that competed in the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship in Nigeria.
