GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Courtney Hogan's first collegiate goal helped Florida earn a draw against No. 25 Auburn. Now, it has earned the freshman Southeastern Conference recognition.
Hogan was named the SEC Soccer Freshman of the Week after scoring the equalizer in Florida's 1-1 draw Thursday, Oct. 22, at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
The midfielder from Camarillo, Calif., needed less than four minutes off the bench to make her mark. After entering at 27:00, Hogan finished a cross from Zoe Main with a low, right-footed shot from 12 yards at 30:42. Neither team scored again.
Hogan is the fourth Gator to receive an SEC weekly award this season. Seniors Kyra Taylor and Jayden Emmanuel earned offensive and defensive player of the week honors, respectively, following Florida's 3-1 win over defending NCAA champion Florida State on Aug. 23. Senior Lena Bailey received the offensive award after scoring the game-winning goal against then-No. 5 Alabama on Oct. 8.
