Rothrock No-Hits South Carolina, Florida Takes 5-0 Game One Win

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior right-hander Keagan Rothrock twirled her third career no-hitter as the No. 6/7 Florida softball team (38-5, 12-4 SEC) defeated South Carolina, 5-0, on Friday evening at Carolina Softball Stadium to take the series-opening win.
In her first career Southeastern Conference no-hitter, Rothrock (20-4) struck out eight, only allowing baserunners via five walks. It was her first no-hitter since her freshman season vs. Cal State Fullerton on March 1, 2024.
At the plate, Townsen Thomas went a team-best 3-for-4 with two RBIs. The redshirt freshman slugged her third home run of the season, a two-run shot over the left field wall in the top of the seventh.
Cassidy McLellan drove in two runs with an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk, while Ella Wesolowski recorded her second sacrifice fly as a Gator for her 18th RBI of the season.
NOTABLES:
- Keagan Rothrock's no-hitter was Florida's first since she threw two no-hitters as a freshman vs. Cal State Fullerton on March 1, 2024, and vs. Lafayette on February 23, 2024
- This is her first career seven-inning no-hitter. Her other two no-hitters came in five-inning Gator victories
- It was Florida's 37th no-hitter in program history and 13th against a conference opponent
- It was the Gators' first no-hitter against an SEC team since Kelly Barnhill threw a no-hitter vs. No. 19 Auburn on April 26, 2019
- This was the Gators' second no-hitter over South Carolina in program history
- The last Florida pitcher to throw a no-hitter against the Gamecocks was Beth Dieter on March 17, 2000, in Columbia
- Townsen Thomas recorded her 15th multi-hit game of the season and sixth in SEC play
- It was her third three-hit outing of the season and first in conference play
- With her double in the fifth, Jocelyn Erickson now has 10 doubles on the season, the fifth Gator with double-digit doubles
- The Gators now have 83 doubles on the season, tenth-most in a single-season in program history
- The Florida pitching staff has now combined for 14 shutouts this season and four in SEC play
