GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With a 7-1 win on Sunday afternoon, the No. 4/7 Florida softball team (43-6, 16-5 SEC) took the rubber game to earn the series win over Auburn (24-21, 3-15 SEC) at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
The Gators have now won six Southeastern Conference series this season and each of their four series at home, including wins over Missouri, No. 1 Tennessee, No. 14/16 Mississippi State and Auburn.
Keagan Rothrock (23-4) threw 6.1 innings, allowing just one run off a solo home run with seven strikeouts. She allowed just three hits and walked four.
The junior now holds a 11-3 record in SEC play.
Kendall Grover opened the game with her ninth home run of the season, a two-run shot to right center, and her second in SEC play.
Taylor Shumaker went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and two RBIs, her 27th multi-hit game of the season and 11th in conference play. The sophomore hit a team-best .556 (5-for-9) against the Tigers.
Townsen Thomas went 2-for-4, recording her first career triple on Sunday. She finished the series batting .500 (5-for-10).
The Gators are now 24-3 at home on the season and 9-3 against SEC teams.
NOTABLES:
On how the hitters bounced back from yesterday's loss...
"It was good. I mean, we hit the ball fine yesterday too, we just didn't get anything going with runners in scoring position. The tone was set early today with Kendall's big hit and getting the leadoff batter on base with Taylor. Keagan also came out and set the tone. She allowed a couple runners on base early, but then did a really good job getting out of those innings. So, overall, it was good." – head coach Tim Walton
On Cassidy's adjustment to playing in right field the last few games…
"I don't take credit for a lot of things, but we look a lot better in the outfield now than we did before. Townsen made a couple of really beautiful plays in left, and then Cassidy's made some nice, nice plays since moving to right. Taylor has also done a really good job in center. They work really hard in the outfield every single day and Cassidy is getting more and more confident out there for sure."

The Gators travel to Tallahassee on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match up at Florida State which will air on ESPN2.
