GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 5/8 Florida softball team (44-7) slugged three home runs en route to a 7-0 victory over No. 22/21 UCF (36-13) on Friday evening at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
Keagan Rothrock and Katelynn Oxley combined for the Gators' 15th shutout of the season, limiting the Knights to just three hits, matching a season-low for UCF.
Rothrock (24-5) tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits, two walks and striking out three. The junior now has 73 career wins in the circle, matching Lauren Haeger for sixth-most career wins in program history.
Katelynn Oxley pitched the seventh inning, allowing no hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Kendall Grover, Taylor Shumaker and Ava Brown each left the yard, combining for Florida's 25th multi-home run game.
Grover now has 10 home runs on the season, matching a single-season career high, and is now the fifth Gator with double-digit home runs.
Townsen Thomas recorded her 18th multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-3 and extending her hitting streak to 10 games.
Florida has now shut out the Knights in three of its last four meetings.
Up next, the teams will rematch on Saturday in Orlando at the UCF Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
