GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Head Women's Basketball Coach Tammi Reiss announced today that the team has hired former Rhode Island assistant Jen Fay as the Gators' assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
Known for her skills on the recruiting trail, and her ability to connect with student-athletes, Fay originally joined Reiss as a member of the Rams coaching staff in May of 2024 where she helped Rhode Island to a 28-5 record in 2025-26, and the team's first NCAA appearance in 30 years. That followed five seasons on the coaching staff of her alma mater, Quinnipiac College, and a playing career that made her one of the most decorated players in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) history.
"I was a huge fan of Jen as a player and as an assistant at Quinnipiac," said Reiss "and was determined to add her to my staff at Rhode Island when I had the opportunity. Over the last two years, Jen has grown tremendously in areas such as player skill development, Xs and Os implementation, and recruiting. I am so happy she wanted to make the move to Florida with me. She possesses fantastic interpersonal skills that will instantly connect her to our student athletes, and the competitive nature, passion, and energy she brings to work every day will be a perfect fit here in Gainesville."
"I am so grateful for this opportunity," said Fay "I know how special the university of Florida is, and cannot wait to take on this new challenge with Coach Reiss and the elite-level staff she has put together. Her ability to connect with and develop players on and off the court is second to none, and I witnessed that first hand on a daily basis at URI. I'm excited to get started in Gainesville. Go Gators!"
During her five seasons as a player at Quinnipiac, Fay was a five-time MAAC regular season champion and a four-time MAAC Tournament champion. She also helped lead the Bobcats to four NCAA Tournament berths, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2016-17.
Fay was a three-time all-conference selection, earning a spot on the All-MAAC First Team in 2017-18, as well as a two-time MAAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player. She also was a standout in the classroom as a four-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree.
At the time of her graduation, Fay ranked 16th in program history (10th in its Division I history) with 1,277 points, and eighth in made three-pointers with 146. She averaged over 10 points per game in each of her final three seasons at Quinnipiac, leading the Bobcats in scoring from 2016-19. Her best statistical season came in 2017-18 when she averaged a team-leading 13.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. As a senior in 2018-19, Fay averaged 12.5 points, a career-high and team-leading 6.8 rebounds, and a career-high 2.7 assists per game.
Fay graduated from Quinnipiac with her Bachelor of Arts in history in May 2018, and completed her Masters of Arts in teaching in secondary education in May of 2020, joining the staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2020-21 season. She was elevated to an assistant coach during that same season, and earned the title of recruiting coordinator prior to the start of the 2023-24 campaign.
