Gators 5-under, lead in opening round of Tallahassee Regional

Florida shots its tenth straight under par round led by Siuue Wu’s 69 (-3) in her first career round at regionals.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 1 seed and No. 3 ranked Florida women's golf team leads through the opening round at 5-under at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Monday at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
The Gators, who shot their tenth straight team round in the red to own a two-shot lead over host Florida State and Wake Forest, and will tee off round two tomorrow at 8 a.m. Following 54-holes, the top-5 teams and low individual on the non-advancing team will punch their ticket to the NCAA National Championship.
The opening round at the NCAA Regionals was the lowest since a 6-under round in 2013. In 30 rounds this year for Florida, 19 have been for par or better and 18 under par.
Playing in her first career round at regionals, Siuue Wu led the lineup with a 3-under 69. She made the turn bogey-free and 2-under to finish with only one bogey across her 18-holes. The sophomore is tied for second and one shot back of leader Janae Leovao (-4) of Eastern Michigan.
UF's next two counting scores were both under par from their one-two-punch. Megan Propeck, who is playing in her fourth career regional, finished with a 2-under 68. She made the turn +1 and had a stretch of five birdies in a six-hole stretch of 11-16, including three consecutive birdies between the latter three holes. She sits T7.
Continuing her streak of under par rounds, Paula Francisco logged her 10th straight and fourth consecutive of the postseason with a 1-under 71. In her four career rounds at regionals, three have been under par: 67 (-4), 70 (-1) and 71 (-1). The 2026 SEC Individual Champions is tied for 12th.
Florida's final counting score was +1 as both freshman Katelyn Huber and sophomore Elaine Widjaja each recorded a 73, and both tied for 26th.
