
Strong Gator Presence Honored at the International Swimming Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Former head coach for the Gators Swimming and Diving programs Gregg Troy and former Florida athlete Ryan Lochte were both honored 61st Annual International Swimming Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators held a strong presence at 61st Annual International Swimming Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony over the weekend. Former leader of the Florida Swim and Dive programs Gregg Troy was honored along with one of his former athletes, Ryan Lochte at the event for being members of the 2025 ISHOF Inductee Class.
Troy's coaching career consists of several collegiate and international accolades. In his time at Florida, Troy coached 47 Olympians, who made 78 appearances at the Olympic games. He led the women's team to a national title in the 2009-10 season and collected eight first place finishes in the SEC across the men's and women's teams. Troy's athletes have seen successful individual careers, with four being National Swimmer of the Year (three male, one female), nine SEC Swimmer of the Year (six male, three female), 11 Freshman Swimmer of the Year (eight male, three female) and one Honda Sports Award Winner.
Troy's own honors include being named the SEC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year 10 times at Florida, being named the NCAA Coach of the Year three times (twice for men's and once for women's) and one ASCA Coach of the Year honor in 2010.
In addition to his coaching at Florida, Troy served as the head coach for the Thailand Olympic Team in 1992 and the Men's U.S. Olympic Team in 2012. In the 2012 Olympics, the United Stats was at the top of the leader board in medals won with 36 total, taking home 16 gold, eight silver and six bronze medals. In the entirety of Troy's coaching on the international level, his athletes have collected over 100 medals and 155 U.S. (national) and international records between the Olympics, FINA World Championships and Pan Pacific Championships.
Lochte was also honored at the event as a member of 2025 Hall of Fame Class. In his swimming career, Lochte collected 12 Olympic medals and 65 World Championship medals. During his time at Florida, Lochte was a 24-Time All-American, was the National Male Swimmer of the Year in both 2005 and 2006, was the SEC Male Swimmer of the Year in 2003, 2005 and 2006 and was the SEC Male Freshman Swimmer of the Year in 2003. In total, Lochte collected seven SEC titles (two – 400 IM, two – 200 IM, one – 200 Backstroke, one – 200 Butterfly, and one – 100 Butterfly) and seven NCAA individual titles (two – 400 IM, two – 200 IM, two – 200 Backstroke, and one – 800 Freestyle).
