GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Korbe Otis, Florida softball alum and All-American, is one of 42 student-athletes selected to receive an NCAA post-graduate scholarship, the NCAA announced this week.
Otis is the fourth Gator softball player to earn an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, bringing the UF's total number of recipients since 1969 to 65. She joins fellow Gator softball recipients Kelly Barnhill (2019), Kelsey Horton (2013) and Stacey Nelson (2009).
The NCAA's postgraduate scholarship program awards up to 126 scholarships annually and are given to student athletes who excel academically and athletically. The $10,000 scholarships are awarded three times a year, corresponding with each sports season (fall, winter, and spring). During each sports season, 21 scholarships are available to men and 21 scholarships are available to women for use in an accredited graduate program.
Otis graduated cum laude with a 4.0 GPA and a bachelor's degree in biology in May 2025. She has been playing professional softball in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) for the Portland Cascade for the past two seasons.
Otis will begin medical school at the University of Florida College of Medicine in fall 2026. She plans to pursue a career as a surgeon, with the goal of specializing in either cardiothoracic or orthopedic surgery, with a focus on sports medicine.
