Multiple Gators Make Debuts at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The men's tennis team opened its fall season at the ITA All-American Championships, highlighted by Kevin Edengren's run to the Round of 64 and multiple Gators making their collegiate debuts.
In the pre-qualifying singles draw, Kevin Edengren defeated Thiago Guglieri of Texas Tech 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the Round of 128. The senior then went on to top Radek Chodora 6-3, 7-6(4). In the following round, Edengren dropped his third match to Emanual Ivanisevic of Wake Forest, 6-1, 4-6, 1-6.
Chen Ye and Ty Host made their collegiate debuts in the pre-qualifying singles draws. Dropped their opening-round matches, but Host picked up his first collegiate win as a Gator in the consolation bracket against Miami's Jakub Kroslak, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Andreas Timini also made his season debut in the pre-qualifying singles draw, but fell to Imran Daniel Abdul Hazli 6-1, 6-2. Timini bounced back in the consolation bracket and picked up his first win of the season against Princeton's Milan Markovits, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
Alaa Trifi made his Gator debut in the qualifying singles draw, falling to Albert Pedrico Kravtsov of TCU. He later advanced via walkover after his opponent withdrew due to injury. Trifi's next match has yet to be scheduled.
Henry Jefferson is set to begin his singles competition in the main draw starting on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Host and Jefferson opened doubles play with a victory over a UNC duo to advance to the Round of 16, where they are scheduled to face Sam Landau and Braeden Gelletich of Indiana on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Edengren and Timini paired up to take on Virginia's Keegan Rice and Luca Preda, but fell 6-3, 6-3. The Gator duo will compete on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in the consolation bracket against Ohio State's pairing of Preston Stearns and Alex Fuchs for a chance to advance.

ITA All-American Championships
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association is hosting its All-American Championship this week. The tournament continues to highlight the nation's top tennis players while providing the athletes an opportunity to clinch a spot at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
Ten singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists). Meanwhile, five doubles teams (5) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists, consolation champion).
