
5-0 Win Over Stetson Sends No. 19 Gators Men’s Tennis to NCAA Second Round

Gators start strong in NCAA Tournament with a 5-0 win over the Stetson Hatters to send them to the second round.
LAKE NONA, Fla. – The Gators opened up the NCAA Tournament with a win over Stetson to send them to the NCAA Second Round where they will either face the regional hosts UCF or South Carolina State on Saturday, May 2.
The team started strong with the doubles point, with wins coming on courts one and two for the Gators. Pablo Perez Ramos and Adhithya Ganesan were the first to complete their match on court two with a 6-1 win over Santia Padilla Cote and Christian Kuehne. Stetson was able to tie things up with a win on court three over Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini. Leaving things up to court one, Henry Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn closed out the doubles point with a 7-5 victory over Kartik Mandla and Alexandre Verlaguet.
The Gators maintained their momentum going into singles, with every player taking set one. Edengren was the first to add to the score with a 6-0, 6-4 win over James Lorrenzetti on court six, making him 12-1 on that court this season. Jefferson on court five put the Gators in clinch position with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Marc Saura on court five, which Ramos took advantage of on court four with a 7-5, 6-0 win to seal the victory for the Gators. Ganesan was able to finish his match, just a step behind Ramos with a 6-3, 6-2 victory on court one to make the final score 5-0 for the Gators. Jeremy Jin and Lorenzo were both up a set in their matches when play finished, leaving their courts unfinished.
