
No. 1 Texas Ends No. 19 Gators Men’s Tennis SEC Tournament Run in Quarterfinals

The Gators SEC Tournament run comes to a close in quarterfinals after a 4-2 loss to the number one seeded Texas Longhorns.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Gators rematch against the Texas Longhorns who are No. 1 in both the SEC Tournament and the ITA rankings resulted in a 4-2 loss. With the loss to the Longhorns, the Gators 2026 SEC Tournament run came to an end in quarterfinals.
The Gators started on top, taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Texas was up a match after No. 24 ranked Sebastian Gorzny and Lucas Marionneau defeated Pablo Perez Ramos and Adhithya Ganesan on court two (6-4). Florida evened it up with a 6-4 win from Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini against No. 40 Sebastian Eriksson and Oliver Ojakaar. The court three duo earned their second ranked win this season and are 14-5 overall. The Gators only ranked pairing of Henry Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn (No. 9) secured the lead with a 6-4 win over Kalin Ivanovski and Abel Forger on court one.
The Longhorns came back strong taking two quick wins over Jefferson and Ramos on courts five and four, going up 2-1. Edengren tied it back up at 2-2 by continuing his court six success with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lucas Marionneau, making him 11-1 on court six and 15-7 on the season. Lorenzo Claverie fell on court three in two sets to put the Longhorns in clinch position, which they took advantage of on court one with a two-set win over Ganesan ending the match at 4-2. Jeremy Jin's match on court three went unfinished against No. 46 ranked Sebastian Eriksson with the match ending at 6-4, 5-5.

The Gators will set their sights on the rest of postseason with the NCAA Tournament. The team will see where they fall for the tournament with the selection show taking place on Monday, April 27 at 5 p.m. EST. The first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament will take place at select host sites May 1-3.
