Jefferson defeated Denis Patek in straight sets
TULSA, Okla. – Florida men's tennis senior Henry Jefferson won his initial singles match of the fall season at the ITA All-American Championships on Tuesday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Ranked No. 39 in the preseason ITA singles rankings, Jefferson topped Denis Patek of Ohio State in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, in the main draw round of 64. Jefferson advances to the round of 32 where he is set to face off against preseason No. 61 Bryan Hernandez Cortez of Mississippi State on Wednesday with a match time to be determined. Hernandez Cortez defeated No. 15 Alexander Razeghi 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 64.
In doubles, Jefferson and Ty Host fell in their second match in the qualifying draw to Braeden Gelletich and Sam Landau of Indiana 7-6(6), 6-3. In the qualifying consolation bracket, Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini picked up a win over Ohio State duo Preston Stearns and Alex Fuchs 6-3, 7-6(3).

ITA All-American Championships
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association is hosting its All-American Championship this week. The tournament continues to highlight the nation's top tennis players while providing the athletes an opportunity to clinch a spot at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
Ten singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists). Meanwhile, five doubles teams (5) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists, consolation champion).
