Gators Men's Tennis Concludes Play at ITA All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. -- The Florida Gators men's tennis team concluded play at the ITA All-American Championships on Friday, Sept. 25 and picked up eight wins across the week.
Senior Henry Jefferson won his opening main draw singles match and picked up a singles win in the consolation bracket. The England native picked up his ninth doubles victory in fall tournaments. In the singles main draw, Jefferson defeated Denis Patek of Ohio State 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the round of 32. Jefferson dropped his next match to Mississippi State's Bryan Hernandez Cortes 6-2, 3-6, 5-7.
The senior bounced back in the consolation bracket to top Nour Fathalla of Purdue 6-2. Fathalla then pulled out of the competition, leaving Jefferson to advance. Jefferson ended his run in the tournament after falling to Paul Barbier Gazeu of South Carolina 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Both Florida doubles teams picked up a win. In the qualifying round, Gator duo Ty Host and Jefferson defeated Sebastian Sec and Will Mayew of UNC-Chapel Hill 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. In the qualifying consolation bracket, Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini picked up their 16th win together, defeating Preston Stearns and Alex Fuchs of Ohio State 6-3, 7-6(3).
The Gators are back in action at the Bedford Cup in Orlando on Oct. 2 at the UTSA National Campus hosted by UCF. The tournament features a host of Florida schools including Florida State, Miami, UCF, FGCU, and Stetson.

ITA All-American Championships
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association is hosting its All-American Championship this week. The tournament continues to highlight the nation's top tennis players while providing the athletes an opportunity to clinch a spot at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
Ten singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists). Meanwhile, five doubles teams (5) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists, consolation champion).
