Cross Country Set to Open Season at Stan Sims XC Opener

Florida head to Kennesaw, Ga. for its first meet of the 2026 season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams travel to Kennesaw, Ga. for the Stan Sims XC Openers to kick off their season on Friday, Sep. 4. The opening meet will see five men and six women run for the Gators.
The first of three meets before the postseason, the Gators are looking to build off a 2025 season that saw the Women win both the SEC Championships and NCC South Regional Meet and finish 5th at the NCAA Championships. On the Men's side, 2025 saw Kelvin Cheruiyot win the individual men's SEC Championship and the team finish 7th at the NCAA South Regional meet.
Earlier this month, the Men were picked to finish third in the SEC preseason poll and were ranked 21st in the USTFCCCA Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Poll. The women were picked to finish second in the SEC preseason poll and were ranked 14th in the USTFCCCA Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Taking place at the Allatoona Creek Park in Acworth, Ga., the men's four-mile race will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the women's 5k starting at 9:15 a.m. Live results for the Stan Sims XC opener can be found here.
