Gators Challenge Stacked Field at Southern Highlands Collegiate

LAS VEGAS - The No. 2 University of Florida men's golf team will face its stiffest competition of the season when it tees off the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Monday. The tournament, hosted by UNLV, will feature nine top-20 teams, including four of the top five.
The Gators are coming off a two-week break from competition following a third-place finish at the SunTrust Gator Invitational. Freshman Sam Horsfield will lead the Florida lineup. His runner-up performance at the home tournament marked his fifth top-five finish of year.
Playing in the No. 2 spot is freshman Jorge Garcia, who is coming off his fifth-straight top-25 showing. Third is junior Ryan Orr, who owns the team's second-best stroke average (71.11). Freshman Kyler Tate rejoins the Florida lineup in the fourth position after placing seventh at the Gator Invitational as an individual, followed by sophomore Alejandro Tosti, who currently holds a 71.53 stroke average.

On the tournament:
"It's a stacked field on a great golf course. It's kind of a preview of the national championship. That's how I'm looking at it. The guys are really excited about it. We have a fun trip planned for them, and this is what it's all about, playing against the best and seeing where you stack up."
Course Information: The Southern Highlands Golf Club is a par-72, 7,510-yard course.
Tournament Information: The tournament will run Monday-Wednesday and is hosted by UNLV.
Format: The event is a three-day, 54-hole stroke play tournament, with 18 holes played each day. The Gators begin teeing off at 9:40 P.T. on Monday.
