For the second consecutive match, Gator junior Madison Alexander scored the first goal of the match. Tonight, she took the through ball from Cassidy Lindley to score on a right-footed 16-yard shot in the 25th minute.
The Rebels tied the match in the 39th minute. The ball Sydney Michalek sent from about 30 yards found a pair of Rebels making a run at the far post. The ball came off Channing Foster and then she put in the deflection with her right foot.
Scoring came fast to start the second half. Lonnie Mulligan put the Rebels ahead 2-1 at 45:35. She intercepted a Gator clearance attempt, then brought the ball into the box to score on a 12-yard shot to the far post.
Less than two minutes later, the match was tied again off Lindley's goal. Parker Roberts played the ball out wide to Lindley. She moved along the endline and tried to send a cross in but the ball deflected back to her. This time, she took a right footed deeply angled shot that scored at 47:20.
A set play produced the deciding goal. Mississippi took the lead in the 76th minute when Molly Martin headed in the free kick from Haleigh Stackpole.
